What Sets AOD Apart?
- We are the only practice in Southwest Missouri certified and specializing in Sex Addiction and Partner Betrayal
- Specialized training in Sex Addiction Recovery (CSAT). This is equivalent to 4 extra semesters of graduate school followed by required supervision and continuing education in this specialty
- Specialized training in Betrayal Trauma for Partners (CPTT). This is equivalent to 2 extra semesters of graduate school followed by required supervision and continuing education in this specialty
- Specialized training in Trauma Recovery including; EMDR, and Mindfulness
What does it take to get certified?
CSAT and CPPT Certification Fees
Our therapists have invested years (and lots of money!) in our training and certification processes:
Module 1 = $1,450
Module 2 = $1,400
Module 3 = $1,400
Module 4 = $1,400
Final Application Fee for Certification = $225
Additional costs: 30 hours of supervision with a CSAT Supervisor are required, 10 hours for CPTT. There are also extensive travel/lodging costs to consider depending on where the trainings are located.
CSAT® Qualifications
To become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT®), you must have the following credentials upon completion of the four (4) training modules and prior to submitting your Final Application for Certification:
- Fully licensed, meaning you are able to practice independently without supervision through a state board (or equivalent) as a counselor, social worker, therapist, doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist.
- Earned a Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, or related mental health field
- Have a minimum of five years clinical counseling experience
For therapists who do not yet fully meet the above criteria, they may receive the ASAT (Associate Sex Addiction Therapist) certification.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Qualifications
- EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) Approved EMDR Training
- License/Certification as an independent mental health professional
- Notarized Statement of Practice and EMDR Experience showing at least two years of experience in your field of license and that you’ve conducted at least 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients.
- 20 Hours of Consultation by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in EMDR
- EMDRIA Approved Consultant Letter(s) of Recommendation for EMDR Certification
- Letters of Recommendation Regarding Your Professional of EMDR in Your Practice
- 12 Hours of Continuing Education Credits from EMDRIA
