CPTT Requirements
A Certified Partner and Trauma Therapist (CPTT) must possess the following credentials: completion of two (2) intensive training modules.
- Fully licensed, meaning you are able to practice independently without supervision, through a state board (or equivalent) as a counselor, social worker, therapist, psychiatrist, or psychologist.
- Earned a Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, or related mental health field.
- Have a minimum of five years clinical counseling experience
CPTT Certification Process
To begin the CPTT certification process, all potential candidates are required to submit a training application along with the specified supporting documents. After your application gets approved, you can commence the training. The CPTT candidates must participate in two training modules, each lasting 4 days. Throughout the training, candidates are required to undergo supervision, completing a total of 10 hours of clinical supervision. Within a period of two years (24 months) from the start of the training, candidates must finish both the clinical supervision and the two (2) training modules. Upon successful completion of all training and clinical supervision requirements, candidates will earn their CPTT certification.
CPTT Certification Renewal Process
CPTT certification renewal is mandatory every two (2) years from the date of original certification. To renew, you must acquire 15 IITAP Continuing Education (CE) hours during the 2-year (24-month) period and submit the CPTT Renewal Application Form, along with all necessary documentation and fees.
